My name is William Torgerson and my passion is elevating successful entrepreneurs and their businesses to the next level.
After graduating with a degree in Economics and Finance, I realized the stereotypical Wall Street life wasn’t for me, and I started speaking to successful Entrepreneurs. I found a company specializing in Last Mile Delivery looking for the right managers to expand. That lead me to Oklahoma City and the next rung of my career.
Working across multiple states, managing hundreds of independent contractors, and complying with healthcare, financial, and most intense of all Amazon Logistics expectations, all while on a 24-hour-a-day schedule taught me how to manage my time as well as my people. This served as a masterclass in running a business.
During this early point in my career I learned the true value of my time and what I was capable of. I leveraged this position to run the operations of a growing Hybrid RIA in Houston, TX. I was originally hired on board to accomplish two major projects:
Redesign the firm’s incentive compensation program
Transition to a new Client Relationship Management system (CRM)
The first ended up being a more demanding task than expected. I worked alongside the founders of the firm to design a first-in-industry group based incentive program. In the Investment Advisory and Financial Planning business, you typically kill what you eat, but the owners wanted to develop a different culture that they felt would redefine the industry. After determining the incentives and weights, I created models and recommendations. After we chose the specific program I literally wrote the book on it as well as the process for calculating the incentive.
The second project also ended up with a much larger scope than initially expected. Rather than transitioning our CRM only, we ended up taking advantage of a change-up and transitioning to a new Portfolio Accounting software that would integrate closely with the new CRM. This project lasted over a year with multiple committees and involving input from nearly everyone in the organization. The result was a bespoke system with more automation, integration, and overall ability than anyone had expected.
Over the next several years I upgraded the entire technology stack and cybersecurity infrastructure, oversaw the transition to work-from-home during the pandemic, and worked on the ultimate Acquisition of the firm.
Today, I work as an entrepreneur myself. I’ve learned that my true passion is to help those with success to grow it. While it may not be sexy, I am the maintenance man that makes sure the infrastructure of your business is solid. And while it isn’t always the job someone wants, when the main road of your business crumbles, it takes a lot more to build a new one than it would have to maintain the existing.
